History

Our History

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University, was formally established in December 1980 to meet the National Public Health Development Project of Thailand under the National Economic and Social Development Plan No.4 (1980-1082). Being one of the oldest Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Northeastern region of Thailand, the Faculty is an instutition of high quality education, which received the first cohort of undergraduate students in 1982.

In 2004, the Faculty was the first faculty in Thailand that introduced a Pharmacy bachelor program in English language. Today, the Faculty offers 3 bachelor's degree programs, 9 master's degree programs, a Higher Graduate Diploma Program in Pharmacotherapy and 2 Doctoral programs. The Faculty’s mission is to produce graduates with professional and high quality research portfolios and to increase the proportion of graduate research-focused expertise in pharmacy.

In 2019, our faculty received the honorary IP Champion Award 2019 for an organization with the most outstanding intellectual properties for patents and for an organization with the most outstanding intellectual properties for commercial use by Intellectual Property Center of KKU.

The faculty is in 201st-250th in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 (Pharmacy and Pharmacology).
